Rio de Janeiro’s nightlife is one of the best in the world. Although it isn’t as sophisticated as Sao Paulo or Buenos Aires (other South American cities), the nightlife gets crazy because of the Cariocas (Rio de Janeiro locals).
Rio de Janeiro has everything a partygoer needs to have a great time: Beautiful people, a great mix of nightlife (bars, lounges, sophisticated clubs, large venues, special events, etc.). Whether you are looking for a relaxing bar to have a couple of “chopps” (draft beer) or want to get decked out and party with Rio’s high society, Rio has the scene for you.
Compared to other US Party Cities (NYC, Miami, Las Vegas), Rio’s nightlife is relatively cheap. Drinks range from $3.00 – $8.00 and you can get bottle service for about $125.00/bottle.
The clubs more frequented by the ³Cariocas² are Nuth, Baronetti, Club Six, Bombar Redux, Melt, and Hard Rock Café. These clubs are VERY difficult to get into. The nightlife starts between 11:00 pm and midnight and the best nights to go out in Rio are Wednesday – Sunday. There’s no closing time so people stay out late – usually until about 5 in the morning. According to Waytorussia, Since its opening in 2007 Solyanka has become the mecca of Moscow clubbing for people in the know.
This hipster stronghold extends much further than a normal club and has a sort of educative mission, which sometimes borders patronizing. They run a monthly magazine, host lectures, run a cool fashion boutique, a great restaurant, and collaborate with various creative collectives from Moscow and abroad. MySpace bookings mixed with the local heroes and occasional big names make up for great, but somewhat generic trendy parties and the audience is young, happy, and grateful. Still, for Moscow it’s definitely something really special, so we highly recommend this place.
